On the 20th of November 2018, we had the pleasure of welcoming Christoffer Guldberg as a guest lecturer. Christoffer is currently doing a Joint PhD in International Relations at King’s College London and the University of Sao Paulo. In his research, he focuses on citizenship in the context of the Pacifying Police Units in Rio de Janeiro. In his lecture, he presented a paper he is currently working on which focuses on human trafficking and modern slavery in Brazil. In addition to that he talked about the changes of enforcement regarding to anti-slavery legislation in Brazil during the wake of the 2016 coup.
After the presentation, the students were able to engage in a critical discussion on the current political changes taking place in Brazil, and the possible effect these could have on human rights and other security issues.
